Sir,
Hepatitis A appears to be a disease of childhood in Pakistan.1 Most of the adults, either have had hepatitis A in childhood or have been exposed to it2. With this view anti HAV (IgG) status was determined in 233 healthy subjects and 124 cases of hepatitis (Table).
Results indicate that 96.6% of adults are immune to hepatitis A.
The following cost effective serological profile is therefore suggested in adults to determine the type of hepatitis.
